Itinerary

Day 1Thursday, March 4th

Fly into the Ted Steven’s International Airport on Thursday afternoon where you will meet the shuttle in the commercial loading zone outside the baggage claim area to be escorted to one of our favorite bed and breakfasts. Enjoy some dinner downtown Anchorage at one of our favorite spots. Make sure to request reservations upon booking!

Day 2Friday, March 5th

Dog Mushing is Alaska's prized sport and 'tis the season for mushing! You can experience for yourself what it feels like to ride the runners of a dog team after meeting the four-legged athletes, enjoy a presentation and equipment demonstration before you hit the trails! Enjoy a scenic drive where we will make sure to stop to take plenty of pictures!

Day 3Saturday, March 6th

Bundle up and dress warm for today you are heading to 4th Avenue to watch the ceremonial start of the 2010 Iditarod. So many mushers have passed over this street on their way to start their quest to become an Iditarod Champion. Many have tried and few have found victory in this race that many call "The Last Great Race". The World's Toughest Dog Sled Race can only be held in Alaska and you will enjoy it's start! Day 4Sunday, March 7th

Today Salmon Berry Tours will escort you to the Official Iditarod Restart in Willow, AK. We will pick you up and greet you with warm homemade pastries and hot beverages as we travel down one of seven Alaskan highways. Our destination? The start line! Our Salmon Berry team will have lunch cooking for our guests to enjoy throughout the day. The menu consists of smoked salmon spread, reindeer hot dogs, veggie dogs, hearty chili and cornbread as well as brownies for dessert! There are also chute passes for you to get the behind the scenes look at the 2010 Iditarod as the mushers prepare to depart on this epic 1050 mile journey through the harsh Alaskan wilderness!
