This is Sarah Palin's home town, but is also the home of many Iditarod mushers and their dogs, including the original Iditarod family and their dogs housed here at Headquarters! Then it's off to a scenery extravaganza atop Hatcher Pass and Independence Gold Mine. You will see mountain peaks, historic buildings, and even glaciers in the gorgeous vista of views. We top this tour off with lunch at a local cafe in historic Palmer, an old farming community in the Matanuska Valley.
