Kristi - Glacier Guide

Kristi - Glacier Guide

Hi my name is Kristi. I am native to Alaska, born in Ketchikan and raised mostly in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. I graduated Colorado State University holding a degree in Natural Resources Management with a Minor in Recreation and Tourism, emphasis in International Ecotourism. Guess who gets to use their degree every day!? This girl!

After college, when I moved back home to the Mat-Su Valley, I started working for the State of Alaska Division of Agriculture Alaska Grown program, where my love for Alaska agriculture began to blossom and I had my first experience with running farm tours. I absolutely love teaching people the how's and why's of Alaska agriculture! While working for a local produce farm in the Valley, I had the opportunity to teach kids to adults the hardships and joys of Alaska farming which led me to realize my true calling~ Tour Guide. I have the most beautiful office and the best job in the world showing off the largest state in the Union with the most epic views and interesting stories!

My favorite tour is a toss-up between a day on the Matanuska glacier breathing in the cleanest, crispest, freshest air your lungs have ever known and filling your eyes with the most drop-dead gorgeous views of the entire glacier valley down to a tiny iridescent rivulet of silt-filled glacial melt water, trickling between aqua blue headwalls into a crevasse with unknown depth. It really is a truly breathtaking sight. My other favorite tour is the Mountains & Musk Ox tour since it's located in my backyard, literally. After learning about some of the weirdest looking creatures on Earth (musk oxen), we get to explore Hatcher Pass where I can teach you about the rich gold mining past, show you the best berry picking spots of the present, and share my excitement of the new ski area opening up in the very near future! Any tour(s) you end up choosing, you're going to have an adventure you will not soon forget!
