Alaska is known for dog sled adventures during our snowy winters! Are you visiting Alaska in autumn when we don't quite have snow yet, but still want to go mushing? Salmon Berry has a solution: our Fall Dog Sledding, Car Style tour at the homestead of four-time Iditarod Champion Dallas Seavey!

This educational and fun tour departs from Anchorage before making the fully-guided drive north to Dog Sled Country. Our first stop is in Wasilla where we’ll visit the Iditarod Race Headquarters to learn more about The Last Great Race and browse their gift shop. After watching the film, 'Why Do They Run,' we'll pass the Official Iditarod Starting Line in Willow to the quaint town of Talkeetna for a delicious lunch at the historic Talkeetna Roadhouse, a 100-year-old property that has been featured on the Travel Channel and Food Network for their world-famous eats and treats!

After lunch, we’ll drive to Dallas Seavey Racing. At the kennel you’ll have the opportunity to take your photo with Iditarod-winning Alaskan huskies and cuddle adorable puppies! Listen to stories from the trail while the dogs are harnessed in. Cozy up under a warm blanket on the custom wheeled sled.

Your musher guide will then steer you through 2 miles of Alaskan backcountry for approximately 45 minutes. This cart style ride can be a bit bumpy on the fall terrain, so the seats are padded for your comfort. A photo stop is made halfway during your unforgettable fall ride to pose with the canine athletes in front of the enchanting backdrop! Complete your sledding experience toward the kennel for a continued tour of the homestead. Try to keep up with the lively future Iditarod racing young huskies during your puppy nature walk in a field of poppies!

Following your homestead tour,  you'll either be dropped off at your Talkeetna overnight  accommodation or you’ll return to Anchorage with closing commentary from your guide. Complimentary snacks and bottled glacier wellness water are available in the sprinter van.

Special Note: this tour is available with pick up in Talkeetna and drop off in Anchorage

Our guest had booked the vacation of a lifetime and the ultimate Alaska package. She had to cancel the trip a week before it began due to unfortunate circumstances.

She later told us that within ten minutes of phone time her claim was processed in full. She was very pleased with TravelSafe Insurance's immediate and empathetic response. Getting a refund for her trip was the last thing she wanted to think about, and TravelSafe Insurance took care of her needs and concerns immediately.
