Welcome to Anchorage! When you arrive at the Anchorage Airport, there will be taxi service waiting just outside of the baggage claim area. This should be about a 15 minute ride from the airport to downtown. Our host at the locally owned boutique style inn will have check in directions on the front door for you when you arrive. The Inn is known for their Alaskan hospitality, prime location close to the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail and easy walk to many of our favorite eateries in downtown Anchorage!

Today, we will experience Alaska‚Äôs favorite sport - dog sledding! Your Salmon Berry Tours guide will pick you up at your Anchorage hotel following check out and take you north into mushing country. This adventure includes the 1 hour dog sled ride where each guest has a chance to ride the runners of the sled guided by a musher at Dallas Seavey Racing. The tour at the kennel includes running the training trails on a guided dog sled ride, meeting the four-legged athletes, and touring the racing kennel.  We allow plenty of time for pictures with the dogs. Be sure to dress warm!

Your Salmon Berry Tours guide will provide you with transportation into Talkeetna where our northern lights search starts! Upon arrival into Talkeetna, share a 3-course dinner at the Twister Creek Restaurant with your fellow travelers. Overnight tonight at the Talkeetna Raodhouse, an authentic Alaska roadhouse built around 1917 during the construction of the Alaska Railroad. Guest rooms are private with bathrooms "down the hall" in typical roadhouse fashion. A visit with the Star Lady is a great way for travelers to understand the science behind the Alaska night sky and the aurora borealis phenomenon! From the historic Talkeetna Roadhouse, we will walk/snowshoe to the river's edge where we have the best view of the Northern Lights. Tonight, we go in search of the elusive aurora borealis!

Wake up to an Alaska-sized breakfast at the famous Talkeetna Roadhouse. Featured on both the Travel Channel and the Food Network for their casual family style dining and delicious homemade food, the Talkeetna Roadhouse has been serving travelers and locals alike since the early pioneers rushed to this basecamp town! After breakfast, your local guide will escort you (and your luggage) to the rail platform for our journey north to the Golden Heart City of Fairbanks. Upon arrival into Fairbanks, a shuttle will take you to your overnight accommodations along the Chena River in downtown Fairbanks. Close to the Morris Thompson Cultural Center/Fairbanks Visitors Center, shops and our favorite eateries!

On today's Arctic Circle Tour, you will receive your Arctic Circle Certificate as you cross this geographic marker. En route, enjoy what the interior of Alaska has to offer, including the Yukon River, the Trans-Alaskan pipeline, and witness remnants of the gold mining that continues nearly 100 years after the yellow metal first brought newcomers rushing north to Alaska! Travel north from Fairbanks to learn the wonder and stories of the vast & remote land from above as we travel over the expansive Yukon River Valley.  We will land in the village of Beaver, Alaska - home to local Athabascan Indian and Inupiaq Eskimo cultures that sustain their lifestyle and culture as they have for thousands of years. This is a great glimpse at village lifestyle as it exists today in rural Alaska.

This evening escape the lights of the city and search for the aurora at a private aurora viewing location outside the city of Fairbanks. This evening excursion includes roundtrip transportation and hot drinks with your local guide. We will share history of the area and personal stories of living in the Last Frontier! Our approximate arrival back into Fairbanks is between 2:00am - 3:00am the following morning.

At 3pm, a professional Salmon Berry guide will pick you up at your hotel and take you out to the famous Chena Hot Springs for a fun and informative evening. We will tour the world-class 'ice hotel', take a short walk to an awesome aurora viewing spot, and enjoy the healing waters of the mineral hot springs in Alaska's great outdoors. Don't forget your swim suit and towel! Your guide will be there to direct you through each activity, and then we will head back to Fairbanks in the wee hours of the morning, doing some aurora viewing on the way, if mother nature gives us a good show! Our approximate arrival time back into Fairbanks is between 2:00am and 3:00am the following morning.

You can customize your departure today to fly straight home, Please schedule your departure flight for 6am or LATER... your aurora tour does not return until the early hours of this morning!

Our guest had booked the vacation of a lifetime and the ultimate Alaska package. She had to cancel the trip a week before it began due to unfortunate circumstances.

She later told us that within ten minutes of phone time her claim was processed in full. She was very pleased with TravelSafe Insurance's immediate and empathetic response. Getting a refund for her trip was the last thing she wanted to think about, and TravelSafe Insurance took care of her needs and concerns immediately.
