Laura – Specialty Guide
Specialty Guide in Alaska
I have always been a lover of the great outdoors. Some of my earliest memories are of blueberry picking in interior Alaska, which sparked a lifelong connection to the natural world. I spent many summers working at camps and guiding expeditions for middle and high school students before teaching outdoor education. With a background in biology and environmental education, guiding was a natural way for me to share my knowledge and passion for Alaska’s beauty. I am excited to introduce others to what makes Alaska so special!
I am often seen capturing the stunning landscapes and animals around me or helping others preserve their own special memories. With more than 15 years of guiding experience in Alaska tourism, I have spent much of that time guiding for Salmon Berry, leading glacier tours, aurora tours, and custom multi-day trips in the winter. In the summers, you will find me on longer adventures around the state. In addition to guiding, I enjoy training new guides and helping them begin their careers in the industry. I recently completed my master’s in environmental education, focusing on sea otters in Lower Eastern Cook Inlet. My research deepened my appreciation for Alaska’s unique wildlife and continues to influence my work as a guide and educator.
